High-end candles, the justification for their price.

It is becoming more and more common to find scented candles as another element in our home. Apart from their decorative nature, their aroma will create a magical atmosphere. In the market we can find a wide variety of scents and sizes, being the price difference between them something quite significant, but why is this price difference?

Here we will explain the reason for this difference and what are the basic notions to know how to choose like a true professional.

Here we will explain the reason for this difference and what are the basic notions to know how to choose like a true professional.

1.Scent

Scent is a sense that transports us, makes us remember and even defines who we are.  For this reason it is increasingly common to observe how large companies are betting on olfactory marketing within their businesses.

The heart of the candle is undoubtedly the aromatic essence. A quality candle is characterised mainly because its aroma is present but without being invasive or overwhelming. We will be able to distinguish that a candle is of low quality if the first impact we have of that fragrance is strong and intense. Journalist Steven Kurutz illustrated this very graphically for The New York Times with the following analogy: "When you buy a cheap candle, the smell of apple or whatever is in it is too strong. It's as if you're in an airport bathroom".

A quality candle will always give off a subtle scent, stimulating and playing with your senses.

Tip: You can tell a quality candle by the fact that, even without lighting it, the wax gives off a scent.

2.The quality of the materials

How is it possible that we can buy scented candles with so much economic difference between them if they are apparently made with the same elements: glass, wax, wick and scent.

In general, high-end candles are made in glass vessels, as this is the best container for the wax and the most sustainable.

Regarding the wick, to achieve a perfect combustion while generating less smoke, the best ones are made of cotton.

A candle can have a composition of between 7 and 9 different types of waxes and a very exact mathematical formula for the calculation of the essence. It is essential to use high quality waxes such as soy wax, which perfectly respects the pure essence.

It is essential that the aromatic essence is of exceptional quality and of natural origin.

The duration of a candle will depend on its size. The larger the glass, the more hours it will last. The first time a candle is lit, it is essential to allow the liquid to touch the glass in order to extinguish it. This is of great importance for the candle to work properly and burn perfectly.

3. Artisan or industrial?

A quality candle is handmade, both the pouring of the wax and the placement of the wick.  It is a more laborious process than it seems at first glance and it determines the final result.

It is a complex process due to the precision required for the candle to burn perfectly. In Kamil Nadhu we have been using a very artisanal process since 1995, the result of a long trajectory to achieve excellence in all our products.

As you will have seen, luxury candles are defined by the raw materials used, preferably those of natural origin and with a sustainable and artisanal production. It is the quality of the ingredients and the care of our craftsmen in each product that makes Kamil Nadhu candles the perfect journey to nature from your home.
